If you are reading this you are probably searching for support either for yourself or for someone you care about. It can take great courage to come to terms with feeling that you need some help to get you through a difficult time or something that you are not happy with about your life.
Even if you are lucky enough to have supportive friends and family there may be times when you simply don’t know what the problem really is, or perhaps you don’t feel comfortable sharing with them.
Counselling is about sharing with someone who is trained to listen in a way that will pick up on what is really going on for you and where you may be struggling, how you can be more true to yourself and your own beliefs and how you can get back control of your own life.
Most of us are aware that a good life does not depend on possessions, but the quality of our relationships both with ourselves and others. If we are not happy with the way our lives are being lived out, or we feel that we are not valid in some way we feel ‘out of sorts’, angry, frustrated, isolated, depressed, or as if we are being thrown about emotionally with no control. Sometimes these problems end up manifesting themselves as an illness because your body doesn’t seem to be able to cope with what’s going on within it.
We get to a point where we feel that something just has to be done about the situation... this can’t be right... surely there’s a better way... maybe counselling...
I have been qualified since 2014 and accredited with the British Association of Counsellors & Psychotherapists (BACP) since 2018. I offer open ended counselling if you feel that you don't want to be restricted to time limits or short term therapy, where we will be more focused in 4 or 6 sessions. This can be helpful if you have a limited time or budget. I offer Single Session Therapy where you would prepare in advance so that we get the most out of the one session and actions and goals are very focused. If you have suffered a traumatic event we can carry the effects of this for many years in the form of flashbacks and / or phobias and this can also be treated in one session through neurological processing (see more under the Rewind Trauma Therapy tab). This has proven to be very effective with many of my clients even with severely traumatic events.
